Competition Awards 2025
What a fantastic afternoon we had on Monday 17th November celebrating our talented Queensland History students.![]()
We celebrated five special awards in QHTA’s Historical Writing Competition, including the prestigious Russell Cowie Award and RD Milns Awards. We also recognised the fantastic achievements of Queensland silver and gold winners in the National History Challenge and state winners in the The Australian History Competition.
Our Queensland Premier’s Young Historian of the Year now heads to Canberra where the national winner of the NHC will be announced this weekend – good luck Jordana!
We were honoured to welcome special guests Anna Wheaton and Susan Cowie, daughters of QHTA’s founder and patron Dr Russell Cowie, and Secretary of the Queensland Council for Civil Liberties Katherine Gough to present QHTA’s Historical Writing Awards.
Well done to all our amazing, passionate, curious and insightful young historians. We are so proud! ![]()
